I'm reading a book which will take me more than just this month to read, since I'm only on pg 109 of over 600 pgs!. ..... but it is really interesting. The name of the book is "Rough Stone Rolling" It is written by ....I'm at work so I forgot his first name, last name Bushman and he is an LDS author/teacher who lives in New York. This is a cultural biography of Joseph Smith and the time he lived. You think by now you have heard every story there is about the Prophet but this book deals a lot with what the culture he lived in was like. I've also learned that it took over three years to have his leg heal from the surgery he endured while just a small boy. They sent him to the seashore to stay with some relatives for a time hoping he would regain his strength. He also limped a small bit throughout the remainder of his life from that ordeal. It has been interesting to hear how Lucy wanted a nice new frame home instead of the cabin and the clearing of a very very wooded area took everyone helping, the original farm was 100 acres of dense woods. The author presents facts and lets the reader figure out both the prejudices and support that Joseph received. This book is definitely not a fast read, but a very interesting one! I'll report more in April when I hopefully can finish the book.
Looking forward to Conference Weekend!!

Happy Birthday Mason
Happy Birthday 13 year old~
Did you see how much your mom and dad and grandma and aunts and uncles loved you as we watched you and Jake when you were only 2 years old last night? Someday you will understand how important a part you play in your family's life. Someday when you have your own little two year old!!
But, that is a long ways off and lots to accomplish as a TEENAGER!!! Rock the house tomorrow night with your friends~make your mom show you how she can boogie!!! she's really good~~(smile)
Hope your back gets better ~ remember the ICE!!! Take some time and read this abbreviated version from a great poet, Rudyard Kipling....

If
If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs;
If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
If you can dream---and not make dreams your master;
If you can think---and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings---nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And---which is more---you'll be a Man, my son! Rudyard Kipling

~Austin Lindsey turns 37!!~
My oldest son-in-law will turn 37 today!!! how did that happen?............wasn't he just yesterday shooting baskets for the Bountiful Braves? Wasn't he just yesterday terrorizing my daughter at school because he secretly thought she was soooooooooooooo cute?!, but thinking if he teased her she would like him!.......I remember Austin very well from the age of 17~~~but I didn't know his REAL personality until he became a father! Now, I had diapered five children of my own but when I came to Cedar City to help Amy for a week, Austin stood over my shoulder making sure I diapered little Jake correctly! ( smile ) sound familiar....?
Austin is a good man and a hard working man. He has his quirks, don't we all? ..... but I can usually get a smile out of him, even when he's being stubborn~~ or I'll threaten to have Jenny tackle him, that will always get a grin~
Happy Birthday son-in-law! I'll be delivering your banana cream pie after work. Have a great day!! love you~

~Happy Anniversary to the Canadian Couple~
Troy & Cherlyn are celebrating their wedding anniversary today! They live in beautiful Blanchard, Idaho which is as far north in Idaho as you can go before running into the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. I think they have seen not only deer on the greens but elk and moose as well during the winter months. I know when I was there in in the fall, at night I heard wolves howling in the mountains. But, in the summer months the days are long and sunny and sheer delight for kids to be up and running around, forget about night games, darkness is only a few hours and the sun rises again !............that is how far north they are.
Now, it is just downright beautiful where they live! God's Country to be sure~pine trees, blue skies, no smog, river running through it~~~ if you like the country you will love Blanchard. Troy experiences a little heaven because he golfs, teaches golf, watches golf, sells golf, well........you get the picture. Cherlyn is no slouch on the course either, she's "AMAZING" as Troy says! Now Kaylee and TJ of course will pick up the sport and Michael, well Michael has to get walking before he can get that swing down!! ( smile )
I hope this is a great big beautiful day for you both, Cher & Troy! The night before you were married is still a fun memory I have with my sons. We shared a hotel room in Idaho Falls and for some reason we all got laughing so hard, my ribs hurt the next morning! oh, I remember now, all I said was, "don't you just love a cold pillow", as I turned it over and of course my soon to be married son and my teenage son roared and when they laugh it is infectious so I started laughing, then none of us could quit laughing!! good times, good memories~

~KING FOR A DAY~
King is crowned ~ for surviving 34 years through dune buggy accidents, motorcycle mountaineering, even falling off a roof!! But it did take him down this past winter shoveling deep snow~~~Jay snapped his ankle! Happy Birthday Jason~~hope you get to go ice fishing ( smile ) or 4-wheeling, or something that you really love!!! Well, how about just "eating" some fish? That way your whole family can enjoy it too! You are a wonderful dad~supporting your family's soccer addiction and you work so hard to provide for them.
My funniest memory of Jason is slapping his sister-in-law's bottom while she was bending over - he was passing by and thought he would give his wife a little tap...............guess what it wasn't his wife!!!
I hope you have a great day!! Love you ~~

~Barbara Jean's Heart ~
My sweet 77 year old mother decided to celebrate spring with undergoing open heart triple bypass surgery March 1st. She's tough~~~and is recuperating hopefully getting out of ICU later today. She has a long eight weeks + at least ( her heart surgeon says) recovery, but won't have to undergo any more stenting procedures and her prognosis sounds like she will feel better with more energy. Keep her in your prayers~ She has already told Shelly, my youngest sister that this will be the last surgery she every wants to have!!
When we saw her off to the OR at 6:00 AM yesterday morning-I felt pretty calm and so did she that she was in the "Lord's Hands". Apparently she is still very much needed here with her great sense of humor and generous spirit! She loves her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren so much~.
Hang in there mom - you are a courageous, brave lady!!
